In starting your internet marketing adventure, you have a few decisions to make before you even grab your mouse and start clicking. First of all, if you have no dedication and drive, internet marketing isn’t for you. It does require some work. You have to be determined to put in the time, effort and funding to make things work well for you. Of course, planning your budget for your startup costs and ongoing overhead are necessary, but that is something you can plan down the line a bit. For right now, you have to focus on this decision.
You have some choices in making money on the internet, so it’s important to know what they are. One choice or another is right for one person, while not for another. It depends on how many risks you are willing to take, and what your business budget is.
- First of all, you could become someone’s employee, trading your time for money. You are working for someone in exchange for a paycheck. This is the safest bet for a lot of people, if you can find an online job that pays well enough to suit your needs.
- Self-employment is the second option. You work for yourself, obtaining work on a contract or commission basis and setting the appropriate rate of pay for your product or service.
- The third choice is being a business owner, leveraging other peoples’ time in order to make money. With this option, others do the work while you make the profits. Quite often, this choice starts out as a self-employment option that grows.
- The final choice is being a business investor, offering your money as capital for a business, and getting a portion of the profits each month in return. This one is not for the weak at heart, though. Providing business capital is not a guarantee of a return on investment.
