Content Creation Tips

Everyone knows that content is King on the internet. Posting relevant and timely content that focuses on the keywords or keywords phrases that will help your customers find you is not only successful for search engine optimization, but for ongoing social media engagement. Knowing how to create that content is something that even professional web writers are constantly researching to better hone their skills at this specific style of word craft because words are needed as standalone content, or to complement video, infographic and image based content as well.

To write the most successful content, for your website visitors, to use in social media engagement and to also appeal to the search engines, keep the word count between 400 and 700 words. If it’s too short, it will not have as much weight in the search engines, and if it is too long, readers will quickly click away from the page because they do not want to take the time to read lengthy articles. If the information you are presenting requires more than 700 words to present, create a video and then write the summary in “Cliff Notes” style to keep the word count to a minimum.

Create engagement and enhance your keywords and keyword phrases by breaking up articles. Online readers prefer easy to read information. Breaking paragraphs into bulleted lists, using bolder headers and subheadings, and breaking text apart with images will all help create a short cut way of reading the information by allowing readers to quickly scroll through and read the information that most interests them.

To also help readers by offering easy to read content, use plain English and common fonts. Avoid industry jargon and five syllable words unless your particular industry calls for it to provide a clear message in the content you write.  Also, while fancy fonts such as Vivaldi look pretty, they are harder to read. Stick with Times New Roman, Courier of Verdana when you are posting content that you are serious about others taking the time to read.

When you are creating high quality content that is not too long or too short, breaking the content up to make it easier to read and more appealing, and using plain language and common fonts, more people will take the time to stay at your site and read what you have to offer. Include specific keywords and keyword phrases in your content in way that makes sense to readers and can be picked up on by the search engines at about a 3.5% rate. You will notice that your content becomes more popular and that will ultimately help with your online marketing and sales activities.
