You put in a lot of effort to build your customer base as well as bringing new visitors and customers to your web site. Whether you have a physical store, an online store, or both, you have to roll up your sleeves and put a bit of “elbow grease” into building your business. In other words, if you aren’t building your business in some way every day, you’re not going to get the results you want. Along with building your business, you have to maintain the business you already have, which means you have to take care of your customers so you don’t lose them.
This is where “dance the dance” comes in. Let’s say a physical customer or a visitor to your web site has a question. You answer the question, but the person still wants more of an answer, or a higher level of service. (Put your dancing shoes on, because you’re about to waltz your way into a sale.) With that business mantra in your mind that “the customer is always right,” you communicate with the customer and negotiate on services and products. If this is a new customer, you will want to do everything feasible in order to make that sale and gain a happy customer. In seeing the quality of your product or service, and the fact that you personally rendered service to the customer builds their loyalty. This will bring them back to your web site for more potential sales or to read the content you provide. Take a bow. Your waltz was perfect.
As your reputation grows, you’ll be able to move up to a “fox trot” in gaining profits, with your customers spreading the word about your great service. Remember that word of mouth advertising is free, and can have some amazing results. However, if you have a customer that simply cannot be pleased no matter what you offer, you may want to tap-dance your way out of that relationship by potentially taking a small loss in your offerings rather than having their bad word of mouth advertising damage your business.
If you would like to put your customer “tango” experiences here, you are more than welcomed to do so. Your comments and experiences are an integral part of learning for all of us.
