You Need to Take Action

Marketing is not an endeavor that allows you to sit still and watch it happen.  You have to be proactive in your research, planning, and the actions you take in implementing your marketing plan.  Sometimes it is necessary to step outside of your comfort zone and experiment with different marketing techniques in order to find what works for you.  What works for your competitor may not be the path you take.  Instead, try something new.  But you can use a bit of caution here.  If the methods you are about to try have not worked for anyone else, you must determine if they are targeted at your niche, or if they just simply don’t work no matter where they are used.

A lot of people are afraid to take a chance.  Given the fact that your decisions affect your profits, using caution is advisable.  There is a saying that you don’t “put all of your eggs in one basket” in case you drop said basket.  Start out using sure-fire techniques that are guaranteed to work, and as you see the profits from those, try new things.  Take a chance.  But keep the spending in check in order to keep your business lucrative.  There are some methods of marketing that cost you nothing but your time, while others take a huge expenditure from your marketing budget.

If you never explore the options that are out there because you are afraid to spend a dime or an hour of your valuable time, you could miss out on some great opportunities for marketing your products or services.  For example, try some blog posting with sites that have content that is related to your own.  More often than not, the blog administrator will visit your site and do the same.  In that way, you help them and they help you.  And all you did was take a bit of time.
