While planning your internet marketing strategy, it’s important to make sure you think of everything. Missing one part of your plan can cost you in product sales and traffic to your web site. Not only must you be able to market your products, but you have to know how to target the right niche of people for the products you have. For example, if you are selling surf boards, you probably will not want to target senior citizens. Although there are some exceptions, most seniors are not surfers and you would be throwing your marketing dollars out the window by targeting the wrong people.
In order to know who to target, you have to do some research to see who is buying the product you want to add to your catalog. Having a variety of products that are popular among people of different age groups and circumstances will be more profitable than having only one product that is popular for only one particular sector of the market. After you decide which products or services will be profitable, you have to build your strategy on reaching the right people.
Let’s say that you’re targeting a teen audience. There are several things that you can do to grab their attention and let them know about the products you are offering them. First of all, teens usually have a shorter attention span than most adults. They look for instant information, so you have to be able to say what you need to say in a short period of time. Offering music choices, making your ads funny or allowing entertaining activities on the web site helps to get them there are keep them there long enough to see your products. A lot of people, not just teens, are interested in videos. Just like a television ad that is only 30 seconds long, it’s important to keep your videos short and to the point, talking with (and not at) your targeted audience.
Whether you use print, video, music, or other entertaining activities, you have to find a clever way to reach the right people. If you have any ideas for other internet marketers, please feel free to share them here.
